Our Story
Bringing Ballet to Brevard County
Brevard Ballet Youth Company was founded in 2018 by Elena Shokhina with a singular vision: to give the students of Brevard Ballet Academy the opportunity to perform full-length classical ballet productions on professional stages before live audiences throughout Brevard County, Florida.
What began as a dream for the student performers of BBA has grown into one of the most respected youth ballet companies in Melbourne, FL. Each season, our company mounts full-scale productions — complete with professional-quality costumes, theatrical lighting, and the complete classical repertoire — at the King Center for the Performing Arts and the Performing Arts Center at Eau Gallie High School.
The Youth Company operates as a sister organization to Brevard Ballet Academy, providing students with the performance experience that transforms trained dancers into accomplished performing artists.

Artistic Leadership
Elena Shokhina
Founder & Artistic Director
Elena Shokhina is the founder and Artistic Director of Brevard Ballet Youth Company, a position she has held since the company's founding in 2018. A dedicated artist and educator, Elena brings decades of experience in classical ballet training and performance to her leadership of the Youth Company.
Elena's vision for the Youth Company is rooted in her deep commitment to both artistic excellence and youth development. She believes that the discipline, artistry, and teamwork cultivated through full-scale ballet productions provide young dancers with life skills that extend far beyond the stage.
Under Elena's artistic direction, Brevard Ballet Youth Company has produced acclaimed full-length performances of Swan Lake, Cinderella, The Nutcracker Ballet, and My Christmas Dream at the King Center for the Performing Arts and the PAC at Eau Gallie High School — bringing the joy of classical ballet to thousands of Brevard County audience members each season.
Elena also serves as the founding director of Brevard Ballet Academy, where she trains the next generation of dancers who go on to perform with the Youth Company.

Enroll at BBA
Students must be enrolled at Brevard Ballet Academy and demonstrate the required technical level for company participation.

Audition
Auditions for the Youth Company are held seasonally. Accepted students are cast in our full-length productions based on their level and experience.

Take the Stage
Company members rehearse and perform full-length classical ballet productions at professional Brevard County venues.
